A craft cocktail bar disguised as a dive. A pre-Prohibition saloon reborn in the heart of San Francisco's Dogpatch.

The building at 2289 3rd Street has poured drinks without interruption since 1899. Through earthquakes, Prohibition, world wars, and the transformation of San Francisco's industrial waterfront, this bar has endured.

Look closely and you'll find the proof: a trough beneath the long bar that once served as a urinal and tobacco spittoon, Victorian tin ceilings overhead, and over a century of stories soaked into the walls.

Today, under the stewardship of Alicia Walton, The Sea Star honors that history with award-winning cocktails, a world-class jukebox, and the kind of warmth you only find in a real neighborhood bar.
